It’s technically been over a decade since I had a toddler of my own, but the traumatic memories are still fresh in my mind. The sleepless nights, the tantrums, the constant questioning of whether I’d survive until they could finally, finally tie their own shoes. So, when Toddlers Are A**holes landed on my radar, I knew it would either be a cathartic trip down memory lane or a cringe-worthy reminder of just how chaotic those years were. Spoiler: It’s mostly the first one, and it’s hilarious.

Toddlers Are Assholes: It’s Not Your Fault is exactly what it sounds like—a brutally honest, hilarious look at the tiny, chaotic dictators we call toddlers. Written by Bunmi Laditan (of Honest Toddler fame), the book breaks down toddler behavior in a way that will either make parents feel seen or give child-free readers confirmation that they made the right choice.
Laditan covers all the major toddler life skills: refusing to sleep, eating like a feral raccoon, throwing tantrums over nothing, and treating their parents like unpaid, sleep-deprived personal assistants. She explains the baffling logic behind their demands (there is none) and offers “advice” that’s mostly just a resigned acceptance of the madness.
With plenty of sarcasm and zero sugarcoating, this book is less of a parenting guide and more of a survival manual—one that reassures you that no, it’s not just your kid, and yes, toddlers really are tiny monsters.

Let’s be real, this book isn’t exactly a hallmark of wholesomeness. Bunmi Laditan drops enough salty language and candidly raw observations about parenting to make even the most laid-back parent squirm. If you’re looking for a wholesome read to tuck into a bedtime story, this ain’t it. It’s more suited for the grown-ups who need a laugh and a little bit of catharsis after a long day of toddler chaos.

This book is absolutely hilarious. Bunmi Laditan has a razor-sharp wit that will have parents laughing in agreement at every turn. She nails the ridiculousness of toddler life—like when your kid turns into a tiny dictator or refuses to wear clothes, even in public.
